Objective   

Co-ordination of electronic and print media institutions, upgrading professional standards of journalists, facilitating to update the field of media with sophisticated technology, development of infrastructure for the advancement of television and cinema industry and broadening access to information for the general public.

  Functions   

• Formulating policy and planning related to the field of media
• Development of infrastructure facilities in the media field
• Uplifting welfare and professionalism of journalists
• Reviewing progress of the Ministry and institutions affiliated to the Ministry
• Providing media sponsorship for nationally significant events
• Issuance of licenses for television and radio broadcasting services
• Welfare activities to uplift the status and professionalism of journalists
• Introduction of Code of Ethics for the development of media
• Submission of the Annual Performance Report of the Ministry to the Parliament
• Preparation of the Annual Action Plan of the Ministry
