The entire Buddhist world celebrates the Vesak Festival with extreme devotion meditating on the numerous qualities of Lard Buddha. They engage in materialistic and principled pooja in memory of the trice – blessed events of Lord Buddha, who brought peace and blessings to this world. It was Buddhism, which turned the Sri Lankan society based on primitive beliefs into a prudent society of logical reasoning. With the influence of Buddhism, a righteous society has been created and our culture has been endowed with a number of excellent creations. Buddhist devotional literature receives a significant place among them.

"Deyata Kirula" National Development Exhibition to be held in Ampara for the seventh year is scheduled to be opened on 23^rd evening at the Hardy Advanced Technical Institute by H.E. the President Mahinda Rajapaksa. As usual, the Ministry of Mass Media and Information has organized the Media Zone in a grand scale. 23 institutions from state and private Media have made their contribution to this Media Zone.

“Vesak Geetha Govindaya” organized by the Ministry of Mass Media and Information in collaboration with in institutions coming under its purview for the Vesak Festival will be held on 28^th May 2013 at Hall in Grand style under the patronage of Hon Dr. Keheliya Rambukwella, Minister of Mass Media and Information and Dr. Charitha Herath Secretary to the Ministry and with the participation of a number of popular artists.
