He stated this addressing a public meeting held at Agalawatte, 14th evening.
The President said that he is totally committed to build a cultured society with values such as freedom, morality and democracy, and added that he has taken many steps with dedication in the past three years to achieve that objective.
A government that respects democracy and freedom has been clearly established in the country, the President said and added that certain parties are trying to destroy that freedom.
The President said that he would continue to work towards establishing a free and fair society as always states and in practice too he followed that policy. He pointed out that when brother was involved in an accident and was taken to police custody, he had not tried to influence and it was the first and only time of an imprisonment of a brother of any president, prime minister or a minister.
When I work towards establishing the fair society which the people expect, I will not give any consideration to any colour, party or connections in this process of eliminating corruption.
