The preparation of this Policy was commenced under the guidance of President Sirisena fulfilling a national need in order to streamline the pre-school education in Sri Lanka.
This was revealed during a discussion between the President and Governors and Provincial Chief Ministers held at the President’s Office today (18).
The preparation of this Policy was commenced in September 2018 by a special committee appointed by the National Education Commission following the reference of local and international documents written on pre-schooling and obtaining views and ideas of institutes, experts and all the stakeholders in the field.
The Governors expressed their gratitude to the President for taking the leadership to formulate such a policy which has a great significance towards one of the most decisive stages in the life of a child.
During the discussion attention was drawn to issues related to education and health at Provincial levels and the development activities which currently underway.
President said he will take measures to invite Governors to future Cabinet meetings in order to discuss these issues further and to take policy decisions.
